Aiden's First Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Jeff and I were lucky enough to be joined by my parents, brother and my aunt and uncle. So much to be thankful for! It was not only Aiden's first, but the first Thanksgiving at our house.

Sh*t Happens

I'm sure that everyone is familiar with this expression, however, let me tell you why I can appreciate it and now have a very good understanding of what this can potentially mean.

Yesterday afternoon Aiden and I took uncle Mike to the airport and then we ran a couple of errands for daddy. Well, everything was going smooth until I realized (smelled) that I need to change Aiden before we returned home from our last errand. No problem! I proceeded to lay him down in the back seat, get out a new diaper and the wipes. To my unfortunate surprise, I only have 2 wipes left. Now, I have a pretty good feeling that the diaper I am about to change is not a simple wet diaper, as it has leaked out of the diaper and onto his onesie. So, I think to myself, I can make this work, I just need to use the 2 wipes I have wisely, and thank goodness I have an extra change of clothes for him in the diaper bag.

Everything is fine and I am about to finish up, when out of nowhere there is an explosion all over my hand. So I stop, and think to myself, what should I wipe this up with now that I have no more wipes? I decide that my only option is to use the dirty clothes that I needed to change him out of anyway. Then all of a sudden, just as I am finishing up for the second time, it happens again! Yes, you guessed it all over mommy's hands. At this point I am laughing so hard I am crying. Now, I want to wipe my eyes, however I am knuckle deep in mustard yellow you-know-what. Without hesitation I grabbed his cute yellow blanket from the diaper bag, start cleaning again and had that diaper back on in no time. I quickly (Aiden is starting to scream at this point) put the dirty clothes and blanket in a Ziploc baggie and used a whole small bottle of Purell on my hands.

We are on our way home and I am still totally cracking up about this and decide I needed to call Jeff so he could share in the humor. As I reached into my purse to grab my phone I caught a glimpse of yellow.......to my horror I realized that a remainder of our little "situation" was still underneath my fingernails. The smile immediately disappeared from my face as I started gagging. GROSS!!!!!

Needless to say, as soon as I got home I washed my hands a few times and decided once and for all that anything other than very short nails were not going to work for me from now on :)

Shhhh, Don't Tell My Husband.......

.....I am in love with another man.

Aiden just loves lounging in our bed in the mornings. He is 2 weeks old today! We took him for his second doctors appointment and her exact words were, "He's perfect". Duh, we are already aware of this.... :) Aiden has gained one pound since his last doctors appointment two weeks ago. He now weighs a whole 7 pounds and 1 ounce. Last night was the third night in a row that he only woke up once! Hey, I am allowed to brag a little, right? Now we just need to keep our fingers crossed that this continues.

He Loves It!

Even though we have nowhere to go - or actually won't be taking him out in public for a few more weeks - we couldn't wait to try out the Baby Bjorn. He loved it! Yes, it is a little bit on the large size for him like everything else : ) but not for long!

First Doctors Appointment

Aiden had his first doctors appointment today. Besides peeing all over the table in the doctors office before being weighed, he did GREAT! The nurse practitioner that he saw was wonderful and made us feel very comfortable. He has maintained his weight and everything checked out fine.

We just love him so much it hurts!

Birth Story

Aiden's Arrival:

Jeff and I woke up on Friday morning around 7:00 am. We sat in bed, watching TV thinking about how crazy it was that in a few hours we would be parents! I was feeling anxious the night before, but for some reason that morning I was surprisingly calm and VERY excited. I got up, took a shower and packed some last minute items in the hospital bag. I called down to Labor and Delivery to see if they were running on time with the C-Sections that morning, and they told me to show up between 9:00-9:30 am., I was on the books for about 11:00 am.

When we got there at around 9:45 am (whoops, construction...) they checked us in and took us into our room. We got to meet all of the doctors that would be in the operating room, and the anesthesiologist came in an explained to me how he would be doing my spinal. My parents and brother got to the hospital around 11:00 am hung out in the room with us for awhile. As it turned out the C-Section scheduled before mine was running late, so I did not get taken into the operating room until about 2:00 pm. By this time I had been sitting there ready since about 10:00 so I was feeling a little tense. Either way, they eventually came in to get me and we were on our way.

I walked into the operating room and the anesthesiologist put in my spinal. This was not as bad as I thought it would have been at all. The initial pain of the numbing shot was very minimal, however it still was a very weird sensation. Immediately they laid me down and started prepping for the surgery. All of a sudden the machines started beeping loudly and I informed the anesthesiologist that I was feeling very lightheaded and in fact thought I would pass out, throw up or both. I started sweating profusely and heard them talking about how low my blood pressure had dropped. Right then he gave me a shot in my IV and within minutes (sure seemed like forever) I was starting to feel tingly all over and the feeling was coming back into my face and arms. Once I started to feel better, I asked to make sure that they didn't start until Jeff was in the room. They went and got him and the surgery began.

Within literally 3-5 minutes Aiden was out and Jeff was snapping pictures of our new baby boy. Words cannot explain the emotion that came over me when I heard his first cries. It was truly a feeling that I would be happy to experience over and over again. It was simply the most amazing noise I have ever heard, there are no words to describe it.

Aiden's was born at 2:53 pm, with a full head of light brown hair. His Apgar scores were nine and ten. He weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 inches long. They sewed me up in about 20 minutes and took me into recovery. Jeff followed Aiden into the nursery where he got his first bath. Aiden started to breastfeed within the first 15 minutes after they brought him to me. We had such wonderful nurses in the hospital and the whole experience was so pleasant. We were able to stay in a private room, which was also lovely.

Jeff and I were able to come home around noon on Sunday and really, at this point, life in the Lemon household could not be any better. Thank you to everyone for all of the well wishes. All of our friends and family have been absolutely AMAZING. I have never felt so much love around me in my entire life. It brings me to tears every time I think about it. We are truly so blessed.

Last Day Of This Pregnancy

It's only a matter of time before Jeff and I are parents! At approximately 10:30 tomorrow morning to be exact. And let me tell you, it is looking like it is a good thing that the c-section is scheduled for tomorrow because I have been having contractions all day! Granted, they are not close enough together to worry about (yet) but they are fairly uncomfortable. Today is my last day of work as well until the beginning of February. I am looking forward to spending these next 12 weeks with my little man.

What a Happy Face Pictures, Images and Photos

My mom, dad and brother will be flying in tonight. I will do my best to teach Jeff how to download some pictures at some point tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great weekend, I know we will!

What A Sweet Boy We Will Have

I have not always been a close follower of astrology, but I came across this little blurb about November 7th babies and I thought it was sweet. Kind of fun if you follow these kind of things.

"Very few people have the potential of the amazing Scorpios born on November 7. They possess intelligence and spirituality in equal measure. Although they have a strong sense of mission, they need a lot of time to concentrate on their personal sense of fulfillment. Few people have as much love to give as those born on this date. They take their friendships seriously and will keep their word without fail. Being a mentor as well as a pal is second nature to them. They usually experience the greatest joy through their primary love relationship. They are loyal and do not take any commitment lightly. November 7 natives are dedicated to doing good. People born on this date know that for them, family must always come first."

Also, I wanted to add that my dad is a Scorpio, all three of my cousins are Scorpios, and two of my best friends, Lesley and Diane, are as well. Soon to be one more added to the mix!
Speaking of cousins....HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAMI!

Now THIS, this makes me happy......

I don't know how this happened or why, but it happened. Yes, that is my kitchen floor and a towel, as well as a real live vacuum. It brought a tear to my eye - actually I was tearing up from laughing so hard.

In all seriousness though, Jeff has been so amazing throughout this pregnancy. Don't worry honey, it's almost over!
