TA DA!

Besides a few things I will still hang on the wall, the nursery is finally done. Jeff had finished the rocker on Friday and surprised me with it when I came home that night. It looks amazing and the stain matches the rest of the furniture perfectly.

Now all I need is a baby to put in the nursery!

33 WEEKS:

49 MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Throughout the next few weeks, your baby will gain more than half of his or her birth weight. Your baby will also move less now as he runs out of room.

Other fetal development that is occurring when you are 33 weeks pregnant includes the following:

* Your baby is practicing breathing by inhaling amniotic fluid to exercise his or her lungs. (he drinks it and gets hiccups at least 3-4 times per day)

* Some babies have full heads of hair by now; others have only a bit of fuzz.

* Your baby has a normal waking and sleeping pattern. Many times, your movement throughout the day will lull him to sleep; while you are inactive at night, it is a chance for him or her to be awake and active.

* When your baby is sleeping (which is most of the time) he may experience the rapid eye movement (REM) stage, which is the dreaming period of sleep.

* Your baby can listen, feel, and see.

* The pupils of the eye can detect light and constrict and dilate.

* Your baby's lungs are almost completely matured.

* Fat will continue to be deposited on your baby's body for protection and warmth.

* Your baby's skin color turns from red to pink

A Little Excessive?

So, I am online looking for cute little outfits for Aiden's first Christmas (Yes, I am swamped at work today). And I run across these Christmas costumes. I have to laugh because while I am all for dressing your children up for the holidays, (and your dogs, poor Corky had a box of costumes), I feel bad for these babies. I had to share as these gave me some good laughs.

Pi Beta Phi

OK, so as promised here are some fun pictures from my days in the Pi Phi sorority house. They really bring back so many fun memories. Hard to believe that these pictures were taken between a span of 5 - 8 years ago already!

I know once Jeff sees this post he will make fun, prancing around the house shouting, "Pi Phi Till I Die, Pi Phi Till I Die!!" Men......

Good Stuff....

I just got back from another routine doctors appointment and all good news. Aiden is growing and healthy. Heartbeat was strong at 140 beats per minute. It was obvious to my doctor when he felt around my belly that Aiden is still breech. At my next appointment, on October 14th, if he is still breech, they will send me over to the hospital and they will try to flip him. If this proves to be unsuccessful then we will schedule a C-Section and take him about a week early, around November 7th.

Then....some more exciting news. Go to www.architecturaldepot.com and scroll down to "What's New". You are now looking at official Foamtec product. Architectural Depot just became one of our new dealers!

Oh and last but certainly not least. Jeff and I picked up and assembled the crib and dresser/changing table last night. I will be working on the nursery all weekend and will post pictures just as soon as it is done.

Yay for Facebook!

So, Jeff thinks the whole MySpace/Facebook craze is silly. I tend to agree on some levels HOWEVER I have both, and check them daily :) Anyway, now I am so thankful that I have them. Long story short, this is how I found out the my sorority sister Melanie, just lives about 25 minutes away from us! Last night we met up at Bandera down by Sac State and had dinner. It was so nice! We literally sat there and talked for about 2 hours straight. I went home and looked at my pictures from when we all lived in the sorority house. Let me tell you those were, hands down, some of the most fun days of my college experience. Now I am soooo happy that I have a good friend so close. I will try and post some of the pictures from the Pi Phi house tonight. Megan and Katie, don't be scared : )

Keep 'Em Coming Ladies

"Oh, I like that dress on you, even in your condition."

God give me the strength.........

Almost Fall

Jeff and I had a nice weekend. We went down to the river to grab some lunch and attempt to get in a few hours of sun before it starts getting too chilly here. I cannot believe that this Sunday is the last day of summer already. Of course we had to take a progress picture.

8th Month Starts TODAY

Do you see that?

It's a light at the end of the tunnel.

"Your not-so-little-one is just a bit closer to their birth weight and height at around 4 pounds and 17 inches. With each added layer of baby fat, your baby's skin starts to look more and more like it will when they finally get to see the light of day. The heavy news: you can expect your miracle-gro muffin to gain about a half a pound of weight per week from now until about two weeks before birth. Great. That's just what you needed. Even more weight to carry around! Your baby's still-developing immune system has gained substantial strength over the past few weeks. Obviously, a large majority of your child’s immune strength will be derived from exposure to breast milk as well as the outside elements. Visually, your baby may track moving objects with the eyes. When he blinks, the eye's iris responds to light and dark. The lungs and digestive track are nearly mature, although the last few weeks in-utero are still important for lung development. "

2 Blondes Make A Redhead?

So, I was playing with this fun thing online. You just have to upload a picture of yourself and then one your significant other. The program will then tell you what your baby will look like .... but where did the red hair come from? Oh and baby already has a 5 o'clock shadow? Try it, it's fun.

What do you think about my little new baby Aiden?

Stupid Pregnancy Comments

I've reached the conclusion that some people just don't know what to say to pregnant women, but they feel they have to say something. So they end up saying totally stupid and sometimes even offensive things.

My personal favorite of the moment is "You look like you're getting ready to pop." OK. I know they mean well, well some of them. So I resist the urge to say something like, "Actually, that's not how babies are born--they come out of the vagina." But think about it--how is that a nice thing to say to a person? I mean, really. Pregnant women already feel enormous and self-conscious enough without people telling them they look like they are so huge they are going to explode.

Here are some other things you shouldn't say to pregnant woman unless you are really close and already ask each other intrusive, personal questions:

Was it planned? When is it ever acceptable to ask a person about their sex life? Pregnancy doesn't make it OK.

Are you sure you're ready for this? Oh my gosh, you're right, I'm not! Thank god you said something.

Any comments regarding their body size, including how big they look, how small they look, how much weight they have or have not put on, how big their boobs and their butt are, etc. It's not polite to comment on some one's weight or figure when they're not pregnant, so why do you think it would be acceptable once they are?

You're not eating enough, you are eating for two now. I'm an adult and I know how to listen to my body and eat when it tells me to. Oh, and person number two in there is the size of a large piece of fruit. So, no, I'm not really eating for two.

Should you be having that soda/coffee/feta cheese/Tylenol? Back off, pregnancy police.

Birth horror stories. Again, what's the point here?

You're just hormonal. Yes, pregnant women have lots of crazy hormones. Yes, it makes us overreact sometimes. But our feelings are still valid. Don't dismiss them as a mere product of body chemistry. If you have a pregnant lady freaking out at you (men, pay attention), and you tell her she's hormonal, you're just going to make it worse.

Smug experiential remarks: "Your whole life is going to change" -Duh. "Just wait until he's screaming at 3 am and there's a diaper blow-out all over his crib" -Uh, OK. "Get sleep now because you'll never sleep again hahaha", "Your figure/stomach/butt is never going to be the same" Pregnant women know all this stuff....

You've read all these comments, don't be that person : )

Good News & Bad News

I will start with the bad news: As you can see, I have no 3D ultrasound pictures to share. Aiden is still breech with his hands and feet in front of his face. Little stinker! The ultrasound tech said that we could wait till he flips and come back, but I think that we will just wait to see him until he gets here. If you recall from one of my previous postings below I thought that Aiden was already head down and was relieved that we would not have to look into the methods for "flipping him" as my doctor stated. Ummmm well, I guess I should ask my doctor what that entails.

The good news: Jeff and I finally purchased the crib, dresser and bedding this weekend. I love it! I am so glad that I waited and was able to get what I wanted. The crib and dresser should be here in a week or so. I have a feeling that it is going to all look really great together. My mom and dad gave us the big wooden rocker that they used when Nick and I were babies, so Jeff is going to stain that to match the stain of the crib. I love that I will be able to rock my baby in the same chair as my mom rocked us.

We also spent about 4 hours total going to different stores looking at strollers. Now let me tell you there are so many options! Do we go with the Chicco, the Maxi Cosi, the Bugaboo, the Peg Perego???? Believe it or not Jeff loved this part, he had a lot of fun pushing them all around and learning about all of the different options, who knew? I think he even dreamt about strollers on Saturday night....LOL. I think that we finally decided that we will be getting the Teutonia. This was a brand I had never heard of and it really was appealing to us as first time stroller buyers : ) You can check out the website here: http://www.teutoniausa.com/

I posted a new slide show feature at the bottom of the page. For now it has all wedding pictures but I will try and keep it updated with new ones as I take them.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

30 weeks!

Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. His eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means he can only make out objects a few inches from her face.

Jeff and I will try again to see Aiden's little face tomorrow! Send good thoughts our way.

Stork Parking

This completely made my night. Whoever thought of this is really a great person in my book. I had told Jeff that this kind of thing existed but I really don't think he believed me until now. We went to Babies R Us last night to find a crib and dresser and you cannot imagine my delight when I was able to park in one of the close parking spots labeled "Stork Parking". Yes, it's the little things that make me happy these days.

Labor Day BBQ

Jeff and I had our first little get-together at the new house this past weekend. My mom, dad and brother were in town so it was a perfect opportunity. It was so much fun! Thanks to everyone who was able to come!

(This last picture is posted against my better judgement. Bloated pregnancy face is upon me, I'm just going to embrace it)

Harder Than It Looks?

Daddy and Uncle Nick put together Aiden's Pack and Play this weekend. I had to document the two geniuses hard at work. Let's just say it actually took some effort and a little guidance from the female perspective. Thanks boys!
